In the rapidly evolving landscape of workplace safety, I led a significant digital transformation initiative at WorkSafe Victoria (State Government). Our goal was to modernise and enhance their digital services to better address the changing needs of Victorian workers, focusing on prevention and mental health and wellbeing.
Project Overview:
Vision and Strategy: WorkSafe Victoria faced a challenging environment marked by shifting concepts of workplace safety. We set a visionary path for their digital transformation, redefining how their services could more effectively meet these new demands. Through comprehensive stakeholder interviews, ethnographic research, and journey mapping, we crafted a forward-looking strategy that emphasized innovation readiness and user-centric design.
Innovative Design and Architecture: Recognising the fragmented digital experience previously faced by users and internal teams, we designed a new website platform using a headless content management system. This approach supported multiple client web applications and included a modular front-end component library, making it a pioneering architecture in the public sector.
Agile Implementation: Our multidisciplinary team, consisting of 29 service designers, interaction designers, technologists, and WorkSafe team members, employed an agile methodology to ensure flexible and iterative development. This allowed us to rapidly prototype and refine our concepts, ensuring the final product was both practical and adaptable.
Technologies Used:
Headless CMS, Agile Development, Open-Source Tooling
